Camphor Mission, Grande Bassa County
Since 2011, members of Pastor Scott Low’s family have traveled to Camphor Mission in Grand Bassa County, Liberia, West Africa. At age 15, Lizzy followed her dream and her heart to love and serve the children. Eighteen months later, Pastor Scott, Josh (18), and Lizzy (17) traveled together. Lizzy stayed for 2 weeks, Pastor Scott for 7 weeks, and Josh for 4 months. Later, Scott’s wife Kay also traveled to Camphor Mission for two weeks. Their love for the people, especially the children at Camphor Mission has been contagious. Our church now provides scholarships for students at J.F.Yancey School and for high school students in nearby Buchanan.
In May 2013, we had a great celebration of our new-found relationship with Camphor Mission as Bishop John G. Innis of the Liberia Annual Conference preached and East Ohio Conference Bishop John L. Hopkins was in attendance.
Josh, Lizzy, & Sam will travel to Camphor Mission with a youth/young adult team in June 2014.
Farmer to Farmer, Harrisburg
This mission is located in the hometown of our Cleveland area United Methodist friends Pryde and Dogba Bass. We have donated chairs for their church, a keyboard, sewing materials and equipment for a new business at their village, and 20 bicycles for their high school students to ride the 10 mile round-trip to attend school. Pastor Scott, Josh, & Lizzy have also visited Harrisburg and seen the exciting progress in this village.
